Tiny Personal Firewall
Brief Summary:
Tiny Personal Firewall is a well written product. When you install it it
will prompt you for "trusted networks" if you have networked machines in
your home. Each time you use a "new" application, it will prompt you to
approve its use and generate a checksum so that if the program was ever
altered, Tiny would prompt you again. (It even prompts for itself when you
update it.) Alerts are easy to understand and several options are offered,
including permit or deny the single request or write a rule, which can be
customized for one IP or one port or generalized for a service or port.
Price:
$39.00
Pros:
- install is very easy
- small memory footprint
- interface is easy to understand and use
- configuring "new" services is very easy
Cons:
- If M@ilDefense is in use, email won't function at all (this is probably not Tiny's fault)
